can not delete file

there is a file on my computer that says it is a JPEG file but will not open and will not let me delete it. When i try to delte it i get the following.

are you sure you want to perm. delet this file
I hit yes and get the following

the file name(s) would be too long for the destination folder. you can shorten the file name and try again, or try a location that has a shorter path.

it will not let me rename the file either so i can do nothing with it
any help here would be appreicated

One mistake in the filename and the file will be impossible to delete. Let's be 100% sure.

Hit the Windows key plus r and type:

cmd.exe

and ok. Copy and paste the below string after the prompt > and hit Enter.

dir /s /a "c:\*real*.*" > c:\find.txt & start notepad c:\find.txt

Your drive will be scanned and when finished, Notepad will pop up with some information. Copy and paste it in this thread.

ok did that and it ask me if i wanted to create a new file when the notepad opened up i said yes and nothing appeared
actually in the cmd prompt it gave me access id denied

Try this instead. Click on Start and type cmd in the Start Search box. Cmd.exe will appear at the top of the Menu. Rightclick on it and choose "Run as Administrator". Copy and paste the following command in the Code box after the prompt > and hit Enter.

dir /s /a "c:\real*.*" > c:\find.txt & start notepad c:\find.txt

Your drive will be scanned and when finished, Notepad will pop up with some information.

Go here (http://h1.ripway.com/AnnieFriday/c_m.bat) and download c_m.bat to your Desktop. Rightclick on it and choose "Run as Administrator". Wait for a couple of seconds then check to see if the file has gone. Let me know if all is ok now.

I wrote a tiny batch file to run some simple dos commands and deleted it that way. :)
