Hi,

is it possible that when I share a harddrive on the network, that I can somehow create a shortcut on another PC in my computer section (directory listing), so that I don't need to go to My network Places everytime... I know I can't create a shortcut and place it on desktop, but I would to add it in my computer

Update: I did find the solution, I just had to change network view. I went to My network Places, selected View workgroup computers, selected PC and right clicked on drive and selected Map network drive...

Why can't you add the shortcut to your desktop?

You should see mapped drives when you open "my computers".

Thank you, freakinprince, for putting me straight on something I do about 30 times a week!

from FrEaKmAn's posts, it was not 100% clear to me what was required. As is often the case with such questions, you sometimes have to make one or two leaps of faith to understand the requestors needs and desires.

In the vast majority of cases, I find the simplest way to view a mapped drive on any machine is to view it in the "my computer" applet. Similairly, the easiest way to map a drive using the windows GUI is to use the "Map network drive" utility.

I genuflect to your superior wisdom.
