no sound

I have just installed ME on my system and have installed all the souncard drivers correctly. (when I go to control panel and look at the sound devices it says that the correct drivers for that device are installed)
But when i go to play music no sound comes out of the speakers,
all of the volume controls are as they should be.
can anyone help me out?

go to your control panel dclick the speaker icon there you can do some adjusting

there are many things u can check here.....the speaker icon in the sys tray on the bottom right, make sure nothing is muted ect.... Also check sounds & multimedia in control panel and play around with settings, as to default mixers and such. And just because in device manager is says its working fine doesnt really mean it is obviously lol....ive had a problem that almost made me throw my comp out the window with the sound..... Try reinstalling the drivers despite what it says....and if worst comes to worst (which it did for me with my prob) i reinstalled milennium. Not to the point where i got rid of all my older programs, i just wrote over it with nessesary system files ect....because with me it turned out to be a corrupt registry im thinking cause the sound works fine now.


Also before u go this far make sure everything is plugged in right on the back end (often overlooked)...by the way what are program are u using to play music...what are u doing to check the sound
