Hello,
I'm not exactly sure where this fits, so if I got it wrong, I apologize. Today, I installed Verizon Yahoo! for my computer. (obviously I have Verizon for internet, DSL) Probably an hour later, I decided that I didn't really like it too much, but I mainly did it to connect my Yahoo email to my Verizon account to get the free extras. Anyway, I uninstalled it, then it prompted me to restart afterwards, so I did. I then proceeded as usual, logged in my windows account, and then before my desktop loaded, a command prompt came up and went through a bunch of stuff; this usually being a normal thing of uninstalling a product (in finishing it) I didn't think anything of it, and went to the bathroom. 2 or 3 minutes later, I get back and look a little closer at the command prompt to see what is actually written on it, and I notice that it's somehow deleting all of my personal files. I stopped it at once, but I wasn't in time; most of my personal files are gone, and they were all in the documents and settings under my account name. The 1 other account on my computer didn't seem to have been affected. I lost my desktop, my Firefox config/bookmarks/extensions/etc and info, a lot of photos and music (which are most important to me), among other things. I did the math, and it's about 25 gigs that I lost. By the way, I tried the system restore, and sometimes it didn't work, sometimes it did (it said whether it was successful or not), but I never got it to bring back my lost files.

If anybody could help me, I would really appreciate it, very much.
Thank you,

Brandon

PS I have a PC, with XP MCE.

System restore only restores system files, it does not restore photos or documents. You need a stand alone restore program like Restoration (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html) or PCInspector (http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/PC_Inspector_File_Recovery/pcinspector.html)

Thank you! I'll give those a try. You like photography? What camera do you have? :P
