Finding out manufacturer of video card

Hi, I have had to reinstall Win 98 but it does not pick up my video card, (just a standard VGA, 16 colors). How do I find out what make my video card is so I can get the right drivers?

thanks for the help

Visually inspect the video card itself for any model numbers or manufacturer's name on it first. If you still can find anything let us know and we can point you in other directions from there.

If you can't find any identifying marks, download and run Aida32 from here. It'll tell you what's what.

I'm interested to find out if this Aida32 program will identify hardware that dosen't have drivers for it installed. I know it's a relatively simple matter of running a quick debug routine to identify a video card so maybe this is the way they are performing this task in part.

PostCode, AIDA32 & 16 both probe hardware properly.
In AIDA32, there is a section "Windows Video" which tells you what Windows thinks it is, but also a seperate section that shows true hardware probe.
This has been what sets it apart from Belarc Advisor or SiSoft Sandra for me so far.
