How Do I Forward Mail Stored in Outlook Express to My Yahoo Account?

HI Gang,

Some years ago I had an AOL account. I got rid of it. Before I got rid of it I used a product called Epreserver to convert all my email from my AOL account to Outlook Express for safe keeping.

Now whenever I have to retrieve an old message out of AOL archives, like now, I have to reinstall Outlook Express and use E-Preserver to convert the original AOL messages to messages Outlook Express can read.

Its quite a bit of work for one message. If I could get Outlook Express to send them all to my Yahoo Account it would be alot easier.

However I can barely get Outlook Express to work. I have DSL now and Earthlink as a backup email account. I have Yahoo Premium and also Nocharge. I also have a GMail accont I never use.

However Outlook Express only seems to know about Pop3. I haven't the slightest idea what Pop3 is or how to use it. Everytime I try I get sending errors.

Can anyone tell me how to set up Outlook Express so I can forward email to my Yahoo account?

So far the error I get says my sending account is not valid.

I also have a 56k modem I can use with my Nocharge free account.

Click Here to open an Earthlink support page that describes how to set up Outlook Express to use their POP3 service.

I'm also somewhat confused as to 'how' you want to go about getting this e-mail to your Yahoo account from OE on your computer?

I have Road Runner cable - they have a web mail server w/ my specific username; it is a POP3/SMTP (POP3 = Post Office Protocol, v. 3); I have set up my Yahoo account to 'retrieve' my e-mails from this address - if this might be 'what' you want to do, then enter your Yahoo account and select 'options' - under 'management' you have a variety of choices for sending & retrieving e-mail from POP accounts. OE is a POP3/SMTP program, i.e. you'll need the servers names (assume these are from your DSL ISP account?) You will need to enter your OE username + the POP server that OE is using.

If these suggestions and/or those by others do not work, please reply back to this post - there should be a solution - good luck!

Hi Gang,

I'm sorry I didn't make myself clearer. I want to take my mail in Outlook Express an stick them in Yahoo Mail. I guess my problem is that I don't understand pop3. All I get is error messages when I try to use it. I will try doing what you said and get back to you.

thanks,

Brainey

Hi Gang,

I followed your instructions and got this error message:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject '', Account: 'POP.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '451 See http://pobox.com/~djb/docs/smtplf.html.', Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 451, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Brainey
