Hi

I have thinking about adding dropshipping as a form of monetizing to my website.

Is dropshipping a good way to monetize a website ?

Thanks Craig

What are you trying to sell?

Not really. Customers will experience long wait times with your site, and will move on to other stores. Also, because you're not ordering in bulk from the distributor, you will not get cheaper warehouse prices that other stores are offering. So, you have a slower service, and you're more expensive. Drop shipping can thus really only be profitable if a) you sell niche products not available elsewhere, or b) you put in a lot of time and love into the store, and win customers over with a superior customer experience, trust, support, provide good choice in payment and (international) shipping methods, and basically cater to your customer's needs better than any of the bigger, faster, cheaper online retailers (and even offline ones).

As a get rich quick scheme, it won't work. As a way to turn a profit from your labour of love, it can earn you money if you're willing to commit, since the risk is incredibly low.

what gets me about online drop shipping is if its so easy to make money, why aint the distributor forgetting about getting sellers and doing it themselves?

Reason I asked about the product, if it's large (kitchen appliances, doors, etc.) and the mfg. has several warehouses around the country, dropshipping works well.
