I recently had a problem with my computer rebooting by itself, so I tryed multiple things to solve it and finally come up with the power supply being partially bad. I reformated the disk drive first thinking that windows ME was corrupt, but since then I put a new AK32 2100 motherboard in and a 1800+ amd athlon cpu and when I boot the computer with the boot disk in a I selected the boot from cd and then when put a cd in the cdrom the light comes on and blinks off and on and then it continues to blink rapidly. Finally I get a screen that says disk not ready replace with system disk. It's like it dosn't know there is a disk in it. Can any one tell me if it is the driver or what. My cd rom is an Atapi CDR/RW and it's about 2yrs old. The board recognized it on boot. I can't load winME without the cdrom. Help please.

How do you have your drives connected to the IDE interface and what do you have connected besides the hard drive and a CD-ROM drive?

not real sure where you are so will start from begening make sure your first boot device is a /cdrom/hdd and your anti virous is disabled in your bios
with your power off put your me boot disk in a drive boot your machine when you get to your options accept #2 let it finish booting to the A:/ prompt put your cdrom in your cdrom drive let it spin up
type in what it sez your cdromdrive is ie: if your cdrom is normally d it will prob change to e it will tellyou above your a prompt
A:/X:/ x being the drive letter your cdrom haschanged to key enter
X:/ setup you should start to install

Cody, thanks for your help, but I decided to buy a new cdrom and see if that was the problem and sure enough it was. I installed it and load windows and everything works great. Apparently I got a power surge and blew the power supply and my cdrom. Thanks again for your help. Ed
