Boot up hangs on windows flag page - win 98 SE

It hangs on the windows flag page. I have to control alt delete to get it past that.It does NOT do it on restart - only after being shut off for a while.

Hi welcome to CTH..

A few things come to mind.

First, go to start/run/msconfig/startup tab. Uncheck all unneeded applictions. That will keep them from loading at bootup, which can cause many Freezes and lockups..

Also, Take your case apart with the power shutoff. Check your fans on the Mother board and Power supply. Make sure they are free of dirt and are spinning freely.

Also, does your Clock keep the correct time?
