Everytime I try to play a videogame, it freezes unless I move my mouse. If I keep my mouse still the game will just stop, or move in really slow motion, until I start moving my mouse again. The same happens when I try to play a video.

If it's a web game that I play on firefox or a video the plays in firefox, it works just fine.

I already tried installing a new video driver, I still have the same problem

What's wrong with my computer and how can I fix it?

ok. i have 2 suggestions

-open command prompt, type in dixdiag and press enter. make sure all the applicable devices are working properly

-if the problem exists with online videos only, then it may just be a slow connection. i have heard of a few people that have claimed that an exceptionally high frame rate has masked their latency from time to time, at least from their point of view. while i am unsure how valid this is, it may be true. I seriously doubt it though, as it was said in a Hellgate: London session, and that game has way too many bugs as is, so whatever happens there is rarely applicable to other games. It seems to me that it is a load of crap anyway. how could framrate make it seem you aren't lagging. lagging is evident by the influid, "stop and go" look, but you are still moving at the same rate, essentiall, you just cant tell. a high framerate shouldn't affect it at all. i would say, ignore this last bit. i doubt the validity of the information. I am, however, merely human, and i will concede that i don't know everything, so... maybe.

other than that, i would say it is your video card.
this is truly perplexing. to me at least.
try Google searching your problem.

The dixdiag thing does not work for me for some reason, so I don't know what to do about that. I know for sure this problem is not lag, because it happens when i'm not playing online and it happens with videos I have saved to my computer.

I already tried searching google, the only thing I could find is people who freeze up when they move their mouse, not when they don't move their mouse.

That's probably because it should be dxdiag not dixdiag. Try that.

What sort of mouse do you have, does it have any background software running to support it or is it just using standard Windows drivers?

ah, yes. sorry. spelling has never been my strong suit. thank you smurfy for the correction. when the dxdiag runs, it will show you an input for directx, which will list both your keyboard and your mouse. it is likely that you'll see something amuck there. It is likely an issue with drivers. it is a strange problem, but i don't see what else it could be just yet.
