When my (dell) laptop returns from standby it doesn't connect to the internet. It shows a healthy reception percentage but displays 'local only'. I am forced to either restart computer or disable/enable the connection. It is set to "connect automatically when this network is in range" and "connect to a more preferred network if available".

I have spent the past hour going through google's search results and checked dell's support forums to no avail. It does seem like quite a common problem but no one seems to know of a solution.

Can you offer a suggestion please?
