SP1 will not install on vista home premium

Hello and Greetings to you all from a new member.

Now then strange but true I have a problem with installing vista sp1 on my dell laptop inspiron running vista 32bit home premium.


It all seems to install ok but for the very last stage when it says stage 3 of 3 100% so I think oh ok it has installed??? NO, then it comes back with Service Pack did not install reverting changes, which it does then my laptop reboots and gives me an error code 0x80041315 which means that there was a problem with the task scheduler? so I look at the cbs.log file in my windows dir and when running through this log it keeps saying there was a problem with this file as stated below:-

Now I checked the task scheduler and it is running ok and setup for automatic and I also cheecked the task schedulers dependencies and they are ok as well now microsoft seemed just as stumped as me? on this so as you can see there seems to be a problem with the dll file wmicmiplugin.dll
so any ideas on this please? on maybe the dll is corrupt and needs replacing if so where can I get this file ? or does anyone of you BRIGHT BOFFINS :-)

Ok I have this fixed now but it might be a good point to remember.

I had to remove some installed programs and then add them after the sp1 was installed ok. Programs like McCafee, Nero8,utorrent, google desktop,google tool bar, ask tool bar.


Then it all seemed to work as these programs were conflicting with the installation of sp1.
