Dwm.exe and Explorer.exe failed to initialize on login

When I try to log onto the computer it gives me a window saying "Dwm.exe failed to initialize, click ok to terminate" then following that a window saying "explorer.exe failed to initialize, click ok to terminate." After clicking ok/exiting out of them both it just goes to a black screen. I'm running off of Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, booting up from safe mode with network support.

Help please?
