"Can't get Microsoft Backup to work

I am running Microsoft Windows 98 SE. I have been trying to get Backup that comes with 98 to work with no success. After I believe I have set up a job and click on Start nothing happens. I am at a loss as to what to do.

Are you:

Click Start, Programs, Assessories, System Tools, Backup?

Are you getting any kind of error message???
