I have just purchased (week ago) an Acer Aspire M1100 computer with Vista Home Basic (Spanish version) pre-installed & activated. I stupidly :dizzy: decided to delete the Vista in Spanish and install a fresh copy in English, activated it with M.S. on drive 'C' and realised I have formatted the 'D' drive that contained Acer back up - PQService drive partition) and now cannot reset the original drivers etc.

Any suggestions ? Can I recover the PQService which I believe held all the back-up to recover the computer to it's original state. I have tried downloading/installing the drivers from Acer but this does not seem to solve my problem. I understand Acer also use something called Custom MBR.

My first thoughts were to take the computer back to the store and get a replacement and start again ... but thought it best to ask you for some suggestions help.

***** Update .... I have found the PQService (9.76 gb) on my computer, shown as a Partition1 Raw after I used a Recovery programme and it is now showing up. I am not sure if it is on C drive as it is shown seperate. How do I access this please to enable a restore of the drivers etc.

All sorted ... I used a programme to extract the 'hidden PQService' ... got all the right drivers etc and managed to burn a dvd copy of the original installation by Acer. All working great.

Thanks for the update luckydog. Which recovery program did you use?

I used POWER DATA RECOVERY 4.1.2 to find/recover and PTEDIT32 to extract and secure the hidden partition. I must add that using PTEDIT32 is a godsend but you need to read the instructions very carefully before using although there is plenty of user help out there.
