Acer opnions are appreciated...

looking to get a new home computer... and have been looking around... first i thought about getting a laptop computer, but figured that it would be nothing but a headache trying to upgrade memory and processor speed and whatnot... but anyways... i found this computer desktop and was really amazed on the performance it has... never had experience with this brand, acer. just wondering if anyone else has and if it's a good quality computer... their website says they are one of the top 5 computer makers in the world or america or whatever... so, the question is... should i go through with this??? this is about the limit of an actual computer i'm willing to spend for now... open for discussion...

Well this is only my opinion and you know what those are like. I can't vouch for their (Acer) desktops but I have some experience with their laptops and have been very pleased. I know of or have been involved in the purchase of at least 6 Acer Aspire laptops over the last couple of years and they have all been top notch as far as performance and dependability. And very reasonably priced to boot.

These laptops all range from 2 to 6 GB of ram, all are dual core processors, 2/3 of them are running XP while a couple of them have Vista. No problems with any of them, now having said that they will probably catch fire or blow-up next week.

Anyway, I wouldn't have a problem with this purchase, unless of course you could find it cheaper somewhere else. Not necessarily a recommendation, but again only my opinion.

Acer makes a good computer. They're a Korean company and one of only a hand full of companies that manufacture and assemble their own line. I've been thinking of buying an Acer laptop from Wal-mart myself.

My mate has one and reckons it's great, no problems at all. Haven't done search on them though.

All the owners of Acers I know of swear by them. Good spec and competitively priced in these parts.
