When trying to print from IE-6 browser I get script error message "Incompatible version of RPC stub" and it won't print. I can print using Opera browser. Any help would be appreciated.

The error message is probably due to an incompatible version of Oleaut32.dll file having been installed when you updated to IE6. D/load and run mcrepair.exe (http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/patch/1.0/win98/en-us/mcrepair.exe) and see if that solves the problem.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your printer and see if that helps.

I have already tried that, it will print using Opera browser but not I-E. When using I-E browser and try to print I get a script error message "incompatible version of RPC stub" and it won't print. The printer works fine except in I-E6.

Hi twiggy - jaws 2 had a very similar problem here (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17706&highlight=incompatible+version). Once we got rid of the virus and spyware on his/her PC, uninstalling and reinstalling the printer fixed the problem.

Try an online scan first here (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/). If your PC is clean, go here (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/html/downloads/download.php/id/37) and download and run Startup List. It will generate a log file. Copy the log and paste it back into this thread.

This is a recent, but very common issue, first brought to light by Henri Leboeuf:

It often results from installing the latest version of Windows Script Host 5.6 (dated 4/23/03).
This latest build has a serious bug in the file dispex.dll which breaks PrintPreview, Find, and WindowsUpdates in Internet Explorer.

If you have already installed this new build, you need to replace the system file dispex.dll with the previous version.

Try this one: http://gamescheatscodes.com/dllaj/DISPEX.DLL

You may have to do that in Safe Mode or in MS-DOS

Cheers,

AnnMarie

Thanks, that sounds like it will solve my problem. How do I install the file after downloading it? Can you give me step by step directions? I would appreciate it.

D/load the file to Desktop. Restart your computer, holding down the Ctrl key when it restarts in order to invoke the Windows 98 Startup Menu. Cursor down to Command Prompt Only and hit ENTER. At the C: prompt, key in this command:

copy C:\Windows\Desktop\DISPEX.DLL C:\Windows\System\DISPEX.DLL

you'll be prompted as to whether you want to overwrite the existing file.....key in Y in order to overwrite it.

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart your computer.
