Okay have
PC- Windows XP P4
Laptop - Windows Vista Home Premium P4
On my computer i added a Wireless PCI Card and set it up for broadcasting the signal and from my laptop, i connected to it.
Gave the
PC : IP address 192.168.0.1 Computername XP-PC
Laptop : IP 192.168.0.2 Computername Vista-PC
Have Norton 360 on both of them so gave proper rules to allow the connections to pass through each other smoothly
I can ping from PC to laptop and vice versa with no problem
Can access the shares from both PC and laptop with no problem
Problem.
On laptop when i enter in run \\192.168.0.1\c$ or d$ i can enter with no problems but when on PC i enter \\192.168.0.2\c$ or d$, i am greeted with username and password dialog box.
Since the username is Sheldon (administrator account) and password is sheldon on both PC and laptop, dont know why it brings this dialog
Still inspite of reentering the details the dialog keeps coming back with username as Vista-PC\Sheldon.
Right Click computer and manage and in shares, i see C$ and D$ present on Vista Laptop.
Why does not Vista allow XP to connect to its C$ or D$ but allows to access its shared folder with no problems ?
Where as XP allows Vista to access C$ and D$ including share folder with not problems.
I even disabled the firewall on both systems and even created additional two new same accounts with password; thinking it may work but no luck
Has anyone faced this problem? and is there a solution.
