I had to put a different monitor on my Dell running Win 98SE. I do not have drivers. So windows loaded as default monitor. But system will only boot in safe mode. I tried removing monitor in device manager and rebooted windows. Still will only boot in safe mode. Monitor is a Magnavox Super VGA made in 1996. Any ideas?

This problem could be the resolution settings on the pc. the monitor may not be able to support thrm.

Hi klf :)

A number of different things can cause this.

Here is a link that can help you troubleshoot that issue.

Thanks for the reply. It was the monitor. It was an old monitor that someone had given to me. I bought a refurbished monitor from the local computer shop. Now it works great. Thanks again for the reply.
