search & delete old files
i want to search my hardrive for old files that have not been used in X amount of days. is there a free software that will search for based on non use criteria and allow me to delete or save old files? there are many files i don't even recognize anymore on my hardrive. several .exe files i long ago installed and i have no idea what they are. anyone know where i can get software free to help me free up space from old files based on when the file was last accessed or used??? if i don't know what the file is for. i can be sure if it hasn't been accessed in 12 months- i don't need it! help!

i dont know of any software that does that for you, but i do know that Add and Remove Programs will tell you when programs were last accessed. Be careful when deleting files without knowing what they are. Some of the unrecognizable files are probably system files. if you want to free up space, try searching for .dmp, .tmp files and delete the ones that are not from the past week.
