I wiped my harddrive and used fdisk and made my two drives. then formated each drive. when i went to install win98 after scan disk reported that there were no errors on any drives it said it would take 315 minutes to install. any ideas as to why this would happen? I've formated many drives and never came across this before.
COMPLETELY LOST

its a packard bell
133 mhz
2 gig hard drive
40 mgs ram

Hasn't this ever happened to anyone other than me, or am I just lucky?    :(

Installs take a while. I installed 98 on a DELL Latitude LM once took over 8hrs... it had little memory and a P1 processor (you know the ones with the math bug). This could be a number of factors such as the quality of the media, the speed of each of the parts of your pc, or just a wrong estimate. Ever coppyied alot of fies over and it sasy like 512mins till they are finished but then jumps to 2mins... Things happen either way. install the OS. it may take a while but its better then a useless pc. if you dont like the spped of the 98 install try intalling DOS with WIN3 or Win95 or Linux those will probally be faster.
