A believed Driver/Processor Die.
A believed Driver/Processor Die.
Recently, and I mean quite frequently the computers processor light has been turning off. I couldn't see the mouse moving and then a few seconds later it recovered. Now when I installed - Lego Star Wars II or MangaFighter the next time I turn on my computer the processor light is off after 10 seconds, and it never recovers. It's provably a drivers issue, because when I run in safe mode everything is fine. (When the bubbles screen saver tries to appear the 3D - DirectX is not basically on). Could it be a problem with directX or is it with ATI? I have the Catalyst Control Center - Which is meant to auto update my drivers, which it must have done because I downloaded the latest and no change. P.S. I believe I have 256MB of nVidia but cannot find it under device manager. I have a Satellite A200/H01 Thanks, Shortguy014 |

Obviously you mean monitor not processor. Appears it could be a driver problem, as Safe mode loads a generic driver.
In DEVICE MANAGER it will be listed under Display Adapters, if there is no entry there then you definately have a driver problem. Turn off screen saver, see if that helps. If not then I would completely uninstall the video drivers and reinstall. Here is how to do it the right way: http://www.playtool.com/pages/uninst...uninstall.html Half way down is the ATI driver uninstall Once uninstalled then go to the Toshiba web site and get the latest drivers. I could not find the model number you listed here: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...seBVCookie=yes

Hmm.
I can't figure out why they don't have A200 Drivers.
The only Display Adapter in device manager is the 'ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600'. Which I apparently have the latest drivers for. But the computer was meant to have an nVidia Video Card. Would I require any drivers for that? |

Hmmm, I can't install the display drivers in safe mode because the detection driver cannot be found, because no ATI Drivers are running, but if I run it in normal I won't get any screen.
Any tips? |

Reboot, rather then Safe Mode select "Enable low-resolution video (640x480)" This should load a generic VGA driver and allow you to install the driver for ATI.
