Hello.

Got a real doozy of an ME question.

I've appropriated a spare P4 Dell PC from our office which I plan to use for digitizing videotapes which will be vast improvement from my current Intel P3. Currently, its got a copy of ME which I plan to upgrade to XP as soon as my tax return gets here. :D

As of now, its got some minor error problems which stem from the fact that the original screen is inaccessable. I'm trying to describe the problem. This used to be our #2 office PC, and the main "area" (I guess what you would call it) when you booted up was accessed by a real simple username and nothing in the Password box (all you pressed was enter). Then somehow someone changed the username, and nobody had remembered what the original username was, so now, its in an "alternative" screen which has problems, Windows Word cannot boot, and Windows Media Player has problems.

Also, in the original settings, we used a scanner program in which a number of rare books were scanned and since nobody remembers the username and passworld, we cannot access them.

So, my question is, when I upgrade to XP, how will it affect this current screwed up situation. Is there a way to access to original screen? Can I get rid of this idiotic dual setup so I can open up some HD space?

Thanks for any good advice you can spare
