can i install my windows xp os onto my new vista pc. i have the temporary vista running but would like to install my old xp instead of buying vista.

Make sure you can get XP drivers for the hardware before starting the changeover. Some manufacturers are not offering XP drivers for their new components.
Check your warranty. Replacing the operating system that came on the computer can void the warranty.
