Hi Guys. I'm hoping someone can help me out here.

I have superfast Cable - or, I should say I HAD. Just a week or so ago, I tested my internet speed at over 20 mb/ second for download and 1mb/ second for upload.

Then I played around with my networking for port forwarding and presto chango - my system turns into freaking 56k when it comes to surfing. My downloading speed is as fast as before, but my upload went from 1mb/ second to less than 100kb/ second and surfing went to the ****ters.

I have my system currently set up on TCP/IP where I pick my own and port forwarding set up for a port as instructed for my router (LYNKSYS).

Any ideas how I can improve my surfing speed? This is rediculous. :dizzy:

I'd suggest going back to what the settings were before. But I bet your just like me, of the "I'll just see what this does......oops,wish I'd written it down" school of fiddling!

In case you haven't seen this little program DrTCP for Windows (http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP021.exe) (link is direct download).

Or this one that I like very much TCP Optimizer (http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php).
TCP Optimizer can suggest an optimal setting for your system or you can adjust things yourself. You may be able to get things back the way they used to be by trying one of these little apps.

Paul

Edit: I just realized that the nature of the OP topic is that the port forwarding changes messed up the connection. The above applications probably wouldn't have any effect on his situation...but what the hey....give it a try ;).
