Help please


This will be my first crack at networking I would Appreciate any help I can get

Iconnectacess modem/router 621

2 Desktops Both have Xp os

Onboard NIC's

A crossover cable

Configure TCP/IP protocol using the Wizard

What else do I need to make a Network

What do I have to configure


AMD4200+Processor

MSI K9MM-V mainboard

160 GB SATA HDD

2GBDDR 667 Ram

20x Dual Layer DVD Burner

400W True power supply


Onboard Graphics controller & Sound

Would I have to configure the modem/router

All you should have to do is plug both computers into the router using PATCH cables not CROSSOVER cables. Crossover cables are used to connect computers to each other directly. As long as you have a router there is no need for this. If the router is configured to use DHCP you should be off and running. Make sure both computers are part of the same workgroup, (which the wizard should do for you), and you should be all set.
