My Favourites dissappearing among history after running chkdsk/f

I have a strange problem, after running chkdsk/f, the" my favourites files shows Outlook Exprex Folders and the"my Favourites" have merged into the history file.Opening up my favourites I get the O E Folders! Stumbling around I discover that my favourites are merged with History. Any way round straightening this out? I run windows 2000 server family ,ever since updating O E some time ago I have had mysterious lockups and crashes is there any connection? Be overjoyed for any suggestions

In each application, click on the Help drop down menu and choose About Internet Explorer and About Microsoft Outlook Express. In these boxes you'll see a version number. Something like 6.00.2800.1123 or similar.

Have you installed Service Pack 3? Also may want to update to SP1 for Internet explorer.

START | WINDOWS Update

For Service Pack 3 here is the issues:

Bugs

When you went to HELP | About in Internet Explorer, under the version it may say Updated Version, if you have SP1 it will say it.

The above may not fix your problem but should see if it does before going further.

BTW: IE SP1 also updates Outlook Express

dissapearing favourites

Hi Murf,
I have SP3 on windows 2000 also on checking I have updated version SP1 on I Explorer. Any suggestions? how I can get the favourites back also the history file contains "some "of the missing addresses only and instead of stating i.e. 2 weeks ago 1 week ago, thurs.fri.sat.etc it just lists a lot of addressess ,missing out some of them entirely. Is this a clue.

First try repairing Internet Explorer.

START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL

Double Click on ADD/REMOVE Programs, find Internet Explorer and Tools, highlight it and hit REMOVE button, now check the box REPAIR.

This may fix it, let us know...
