View Full Version : Firefox Cache

If I download a movie on Youtube and accidentally close the window, I have to download the clip again.
Previously, the movie would be saved for a day or so - in the cache I'm guessing. How can I make it like that again? I can't see any options in the Tools menu of Firefox.

Howdy:
Did you know that downloading from YouTube is illegal and against their Terms of Use?

Huh? Did you even read what I typed? I don't mean download to my hard drive - download to my cache or whatever it is.
YouTube is not streaming. Once the clip has downloaded, you can watch it again and again without waiting. Previously this effect would last hours, if not days. I assume the clip was temporarily saved, but it doesn't happen anymore. So the help I require is how to tinker with the cache of Firefox, cause I can't find any options.
If I wanted to permanently download videos off YouTube, I would go elsewhere for advice obviously - and I wouldn't give a damn about Terms of Use...

Hi Bkeela,
First, don't be rude to Murray. He's just doing his job and I see how he misunderstood your question. On first glance, it was a little vague what you wanted. 'Nuff said on that.
It does sound like the cache is being cleared. That's the FF equivalent of Temp Internet files in IE.
Go into Tools>Options>Privacy tab.
In the Private Data section, be sure the "Always clear my private data ..." line is unchecked. You can also change settings for what gets cleared by clicking the Settings button. Be sure to OK everything when done and you may have to restart Firefox.
Post back if that does it for you or not.

The line is unchecked. Problem still exists.
