Exclamation comp starts in windows but wont load anything after that

I can start my computer and type my PW for my comp settings, but that's about it. I see it load with my wallpaper, but it stops after that. I have on start menu or bar whatsoever... just wallpaper. I've tried to go in safe mode but notihng pops up in there, either. I don't have the start-up disk, btw... i lost it. I don't even hear any computer activity... it just stops.

Hi bizzle - why not borrow another PC for a few minutes and download the Ultimate Boot Disk for WinME from our Downloads page here. When you have done that, put a fresh formatted floppy the A: drive and doubleclick on the downloaded .exe to create your bootdisk. Then go here and click on "Whats A Boot Disk" for information on how to use it. Try repairing your registry first. If that doesnt fix your problem, go here and download F-Prot for DOS. You can run it in conjunction with UBD from floppies, instructions here. Good luck and keep us updated.

Exclamation re-loading my OS? my restore CD doesnt have win me

sup guys. Well, i found out that i have to reload my OS (win me, of course). However, my restore CD doesnt have that option. all it has is User Backup, Factory Restore (noooo), etc etc. There isn't anything that is strictly "Reload operating system." Anyone know how I can do this? Would I need a new CD? Where can I get it? Thanks.

Thanks AnnMarie. But is there such a thing as a non-destructive reloading of my OS? There's no way I can back up my stuff now; that would take a bazillion diskettes cause my dumb laptop doesnt have a burner. That site said that to reboot windows, I'd have to destroy my data, but I dont see a difference between that and Factory Restore.

Hi bizzle, I'm not quite sure what you are referring to here. Do you mean the UBD site?

Well, if it were me, I would try repairing the registry first. That might just fix the problem.

Hi bizzle, I merged your other post with this thread. It's probably better to keep everything relating to this problem in one thread then people can see what you have tried.
