Wireless connected but cannot access internet
Hi ALL
I would be really grateful if I could get some feedback on the following problem: I recently started using the wireless connection we had installed in our flat. My laptop (Dell) has been used successfully with wireless internet before. However, we lost the wireless connection the other day and the problem seemed to be that there was no IP address detected. My flatmate got her IP address renewed when we switched router off but I didn't. I've tried copying her IP address details etc and now I have detected a wireless connection but when I try to access the internet using a browser( have tried with both Mozilla and Internet Explorer) it says that there is no connection. I have tried to use the Windows repair system to fix it and it is saying that the default gateway is wrong. Not sure what this means or how to correct it. Any suggestions are much appreciated - thanks for reading this thread!* Steph* |

On your computer open a command prompt, type ipconfig /all. What does that show? Do that with your roommate's computer and compare. Make sure your adapter is set for DHCP. Try re-running your wireless utility to set it up, making sure the SSID is correct, and if there is WEP or WPA encryption that you have that password. What wireless does your Dell use?

Hi steph* and welcome to CTH,
Before we can go to far, some more information would help. Can you post the info that this post suggests? Especially, all the output from ipconfig/all. -z1p
