okay, i'm not a novice, but young and stupid sometimes....lol..... Okay, i'm gonna upgrade my slow crawler celeron 400mhz. So, i have a 13 gb hard drive as my master, now try to keep in mind that i bought this system used, and its NOT a name brand pc (compaq, e-machine, etc.) So, i'm gonna switch motherboards, add an athlon processor, and use the same ram (190mb, pc133). Okay, so my question is, if i dont have any cards (pci, agp, etc.) in the old board, and audio and video on the old board was integrated, am i looking at any HUGE problems if i just replaced the board and chip? the 13gb right now has 98se on it, and i was wondering if i just stuck it in as the master with the new board if there was anything i would have to do other than that to just boot straight to 98?
Obviously with the new onboard sound and video, 98 would have to pick it up, but other than that would there be any side effects? the new chips gonna be around the 1.8-1.9 ghz mark.
i really didnt want to go spend a lot of money when i can settle for the other hardware i have now, my case is a standard atx tower, so the new board will fit, but is there anything i'm gonna have to worry about if i just wanna boot from my 98 HD? anything you'd suggest i do before i make the switch?
Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.
