Hi is there a free tool out there that converts avi to mpeg4. Thanks.

Thanks for that, will it do a full film? I,ve downloaded a couple already and the free trial only does about ten minutes of a film.

I've never used it, but if you google avi to mpeg4 there are loads to choose from.

Handbrake is a good open source program: http://handbrake.fr/

Works for Mac and Windows XP and Vista. I'm very happy with it. It was recommended by the Media & Communication Department of my University.
