gif's not loading

For some reason, any photo (which is a click-on link) that is an gif type will not show up , I just get a square box with an "X" in the top cornner. Moving the pointer over it gets the click here message and the link usually works. Any jpeg type photo link shows up. Also I get a lot of missing "action canceled boxes" on a lot of the web sites I visit. I have been working on this problem for some three weeks not and have found no one that knows what could be wrong. Can any one here help me.

First off if your using AOL random things like this happen alot... thats why i dont. But if your using IE your Gif library may be corrupt. Try reinstalling IE. You may also get this problem if your internet cache is too small, but this is usually not specific to a type of image.
