I am having a problem connecting to the internet on my home network. The computer im on now is on the network, i know the router and modem work fine, and i also know that my computer worked before. I dont know exactly what happened but ill try to explain some of the symptoms im having and some of the solutions ive tried.
Under Task Manager its all grey and says No Active Network Adapters Found.
In Device manager it says its there and working properly. ive uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still nothing. (I also got a new PCI NIC card and that didnt help either)
In the CMD prompt ive done ipconfig /all and it gives me an error message telling me to contact microsoft support, internal error, unable to query hostname
I read the post with RonF and reinstalled the nettcpip.inf , still nothing
i cannot repair connection it tells me Failed to Query TCP/IP Settings of the Connection. Cannot Proceed.
I can see the connection down in the task bar it says im connected at 100MBPS but there is no sent or recieved and in the properties it is all blanks in front of IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, etc.
I have read other forums but they get to a point that dosent apply to me and there was no help. I tried running WinsockxpFix and that didnt help. i also have the problem that i cannot start the windows firewall service/internet connection sharing services.
i tried not to make a posting about problems that were already addressed, but like i said, they went off in a direction that was of no use to me.
I am running XP SP2 and i do not have an install cd anymore, so i cant run that or reformat. PLEASE HELP (I have HJT Logfile if that will help)
