Thumbs down Graphical Glitches in Vista

I'm suffering from graphical glitches appearing on-screen while trying to play games in windows vista.

This only happens in vista: I have taken a blank HDD and put that in my system, installed XP then tried playing the same games (right now the games I'm playing include C&C3, Portal, Half Life 2, Audiosurf and some others - all are affected). In the XP set up I have no problems at all.

On the vista set-up I'm completely up to date with SP1 and all the latest drivers for all relevant hardware. My card is a Gainward 7900GS (yeah, I know...).

Right now I'm on the XP set up (I only just checked if the bugs appear here too -if they did I would be shopping for a new graphics card right now). When I switch back over I'll be able to post some print-screens of the graphical bugs in Portal which I took a few days ago.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated

Edit: One more thing. I also suffer from the bug referenced in this thread, although I've been able to avoid it by turning the shader detail as low as it will go on all games I can. I don't get the bug outside of games as the poster of that thread does.

Print screens:

These lines are the most common bug. Sometimes they're so thick you can't see what's going on.

This is the worst it's ever been, its not normally like that.

Thirdly and lastly, sometimes objects have the wrong colour or texture like this. That one's actually not such a good example because sometimes when a lot of various objects have the wrong texture on them, it looks insane, whereas that one doesn't look like much to complain about.

Hope this helps.
