StrokeIt (Freeware)

StrokeIt is an advanced mouse gesture recognition engine and command processor. What is a mouse gesture? Mouse gestures are simple symbols that you "draw" on your screen using your mouse. When you perform a mouse gesture that StrokeIt can recognize, it will perform the "action" associated with that gesture. In short, it's a nifty little program that lets you easily control programs by drawing symbols with your mouse.

Sounds kind of interesting. Think I'll check out the site. Have you tried it yourself?

No, I have not tried it. There's not really any shortcut I need to justify whatever resources it might use, regardless how negligible. But then again, I have not really review all of the actions. The only thing I would want it for would be to close/reduce web pages, but I currently use CloseIt which does the job. I did save it to my "Possible Future Downloads" folder to re-evaluate it later.

I posted another one that I was very interested it. It added commands to the mouse right-click. There were about five, but you can only use one at a time (you had to select which command you want when you right side double-click.) I chose close all but the current open window. It took me several right-clicks for it to activate. I got a bit frustrated with it, so it's gone.

Thanks, jnibori. I don't think this one would be for me, but I always have an extreme interest in these types of programs and always want to know about them.

I saw the other post you're referring to and have something to say about it.....I'll go over to that thread, though!

God, I forgot all about this one.

I did not like it. Sometimes I'd move toward a Link on a page, and the program recognized that movement as a gesture. Other times I had to repeat the sane gesture several times over, saving me no time at all.

(Woops, for some reason I just received a reply link to this thread, in which I see was posted by Harrie a long time ago. "Lost In Space" I guess!

A bad review, or merely expressing my own experience with the program? (Which I did subsequently try, for a few days and found it to be very buggy) Perhaps I did not take the time to fully learn it, but in my experience, is was more frustrating than it was worth. IMHO that is.

My apologies if my opinion of the program upset you. You're clearly fond of it, and it sounds as if it it works well for you which is good. Perhaps there have been some modifications/improvements since I've tried it, or perhaps it's just not for me.

Regards,
jnibori

i am not fond of it. i need it like air and can go back to windows 95 for it!!!
and let me assure u that everyone will be using mouse gestures in few years when it becomes a part of microsoft's next os(which is bound to happen). So u can either wait with the pack till that happens or u can start using it now.
Mouse gestures r not just another type of program launchers but a whole new concept.
and yes a new version was released just now with a few bug ZZfixes.

goodbye!!
