Okay..I've been really wanting this game for my Pc, and even bought a new one, making sure it met all thte specifications and system requirements for Gears. Bought a good graphics card and everything. But when I'm installing it, it gets to the Decompressing Files part of the instalation process, once it finishes, it just vanishes and nothing shows up on my desktop or anything.
Any idea what this could be?

Howdy:
Did you download the game as a compressed file?

I don't think so. I just popped the disk in there and fired it up, and proceeded to download.
Forgive me, I'm not sure how all of this stuff works. I'm a bit of a tard.

Nope. I paid the 60 bucks for the actual game at my local Circuit City.

Have you checked your "Start" menu to see if the game installed?
Did you go into Windows Explorer and delete the folder it made for temp files before you tried another install?

Thats just the thing. It didn't leave any folders on my desktop or computer that I'm aware of. The only time I see anything related to the game is when I actually have the disk in, and go to my computer.
I certainly hope nothing is wrong with this disc. I'm not sure I can get my money back. And I was also promised that my new system was tough enough to handle Gears.

You may not get your money back but they should replace the game. That's the first thing I would do. Get a new cd and try that.
Also, what are your system specs and the minimum game specs on the cd case?

I checked everything, and it seems to be in order. I even bought a special video card and had them put in extra RAM for me. A guy who plays Gears actually sold me this computer, so I'm fairly sure everything should work..I did find a driver I havent installed yet that was for my video card..Do you think that could be the problem?

Anything is possible.
Go into Device Manager and check to see if there is anything with a yellow or red mark beside it.
Also, what operating system are you using?

Vista.

Well, the specs say it should run on Vista.
Has your Vista cd been used before (came with a different system)?
Personally, I would be returning the game for a replacement.

I downloaded a driver I didn't have before, and am waiting for something else to finnish downloading, and I might hitch a ride back up there and see what they can do.
THis is really bumming me out. I got the only copy of the game they had, too.

 Okay. Try the driver download.
When you are trying to install, are you multi-tasking - downloading as well?

No, not the first two times I tried it. I didn't have anything else up. I just hit install, and sat down at my gamecube for a while. Same thing happened.

Ahh..Turns out it was the driver! The game seems to be working okay, I just had to manually put an icon on my desktop, and it doesnt seem to work without the disk in the cd drive...But I was told that's normal.
