I recently installed windows 2000 operating system onto my computer and it keeps rebooting itself. I have an emachines computer and the logo puts up, then the windows loading bar comes up then it repeats itself. If anyone knows what is wrong with it, please help. Thank you.

My first guess at something like this would be RAM, but is this upgrade to Windows 2000 from another operating system? If so then it could be an application that's trying to initalize which is not Windows 2000 compatible. Is the system rebooting during the bootup while the screen is black or is it during the logo screen with the bar scrolling across the screen?

it scrolls across the screen like it should when booting it up. After that screen it should have a WINDOWS 2000 logo appear, but instead it reloads to the E Machines logo and repeats the same process. I will try putting new ram into it, but I do not think that it will help any. it is an upgrade from windows 98, but I formatted hard drive two times before trying to install 2000

So your doing a clean install then of WIndows 2K. Ok, try pulling any unneeded hardware from the system before continuing. Modem, sound card, and other PCI/ISA devices other than the video card and try booting. Let us know how this goes.
Did the install of Windows 2000 go without a hitch? Any errors at all during the install?

I tried taking out all the pci/isa devices, but that didn't help me at all. When I installed windows 2000, I didnt get any errors, or any errors that came up. Any other ideas?

I also wanted to let you know that I tried getting into safe mode, but I cannot even do that. I found this thing online that would resolve the issue of continuously rebooting. It required me getting into safe mode by pressing f8. But I press f8, get into the menu but then once I select safe mode, it reboots over again,.
