Lockup playing Call of Duty 4
Greetings,
After playing COD4 for a while, sometimes my screen gets red lines in it and the computer locks up and I have to restart to get it to do anything. The GPU temp gets up to around 58-60 c. I have the fan speed set to 100% fixed speed while playing games, and after I restart the temp drops to around 48c after the fan runs for a little bit without the game going. Is that temp range normal? I have two case fans installed on my system also. I have noticed on the fan speed on the GPU, if I have it set on dynamic and then change it to fixed speed, I can hear the fan speed up. COD4 is the only game that this happens on, but it is also the one that works the GPU the hardest. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. My system is: XFX nForce 680i LT SLI Socket775 MOB Maxtor 300GB SATA HD Power Up 800w Power Supply Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3Ghz Coolmaster X Dream 4 Alum CPU Cooler Socket 775 OCZ Platinum Rev 2 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800Mhz Palit GeForce 8800GT Super 1GBPCIe 2 Thermaltake 120mm Case Fans Ultra eTorque Mid-Tower Case Thanks, Steve |

have you checked the temperature of your CPU, that could be the cause of you having your computer locking up

Just played a little. I updated driver, and cpu was at 54c and gpu was 64c after playing for about 15 minutes. No lockup though. Is this an acceptable temp range?
Thanks Steve |

GPU temp is fine, Those 8800's run quite hot. Not too sure about CPU though I haven't seen what the Core 2's temp range should be. But 54C isn't too bad.
Sounds more likely to be a RAM issue to me. Does this happen with any other games?

Lockup on Medal of Honor also
I just installed MOH Airborne, and now it locks up everytime I try to play it. I turned down the hardware acceleration, and when I played, it still locked up, but didn't have the red lines in the screen.
Thank, Steve |
