I formatted my hard drive so that i could install windows 98 again. The whole process went through until it started detecting plug and play and non plug and play devices. it normally restarts after detecting. it did, but when the windows start-up screen comes up, the computer freezes. i've let it run for 3 hours and nothing happened. what can i do to get in to start up completely and finish installing????? please help

as I am not a pro but you can try this and let us know if it helped.
remove all your secondary devices from PCI slots like soundcards, modems etc. or even CDRom or Combo if possible.
Quick format the partition using 'format /q' in dos.
make a temp folder and copy your all Win98 installation files to temp folder and install directly from your drive.

if i format the partition, won't it delete whatever is already on it?
