lost my 2 partitions

Can anyone out there help ma? I had 3 partitions Win 98, Win2000 and Win XP pro. When win98 was giving me a lot of problems I reformatted it and installed Win Me in its place. Now when the system boots up there is only Win Me instead of the 3 choices I had. The other os are gone. What can I do to recover the other 2 OS's. Please anyone? Thanks in anticipation for some help.

Hi midnite,

Were using XP Pro's boot manager to bring up the 3 choices of operating systems to boot into, or were you using a third-party boot manager (such as Boot Magic, for example)?

If you were using XP Pro's boot manager, a repair install (using the second repair option) should place the necessary boot files onto the Windows ME partition and give you the boot options once again

Or

You could give Doug Knox's WINXP Bootloader fix a try. Follow the directions under the "Repairing the Windows® XP Boot Loader" heading.
I have never tried this fix, so I cannot vouch for it

If you were using Boot Magic (or other third-party boot manager) you would have to install it in Windows ME and then enable it

You're very welcome, midnite. I'm glad that I was able to assist you in solving the problem.

Just out of curiosity, did you do a repair install of XP, or did you use Doug Knox's WINXP Bootloader fix?
