A funny one this, my history wont clear when I press 'clear history' I have even set the number of days history is kept to zero and it still stays on for a couple of days.
I have a twentytwo year old and an eleven year old and the stuff the older one accesses I wouldent want the younger one to see. I think this problem started when I downloaded a program called Schmaili it's a smily faces thing when it was in startup it sent three things to the history every time it started up, I've taken it out of startup now. Any ideas anyone? ta.

Hi gwilym - sorry about the delay in replying. Have a look at this link Problem Clearing Internet Explorer's History Data (http://www.purgeie.com/lockhist.htm). Lots of good information plus at the bottom of the page, the author tells you how to determine which program is locking your I.E. History. Let us know how you get on.

Hi AnnMarie, thanks for the information some of it was over my head but I found that Kazaa installed messes up your history. I dont know if you'll remember but that was the cause of my last problem you delt with. Anyway I couldent deleat it from add/remove programs so I searched for Kazaa it came up with sixty items I selected all and deleated them, I'm not sure if thats the right way to do it, I,ll leave them in the recycle bin for a few days in case theres a problem. The kids will insist on downloading this program. Ahhhhh. I've tried removing history and it now works fine. Thanks once again for your brilliant help. I do have another question but it's not related to this so I'd better start another thread. Thanks again.

Hi gwilym - if you want to be sure that you have got rid of KaZaA, you could download, unzip and run this little utility Kazaabegone (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/kazaabegone.zip). As always, you are very welcome for the help :D

I ran the little program you sugested and it found another 18 bits of Kazaa related things. I'll hang on to that it'll be handy if the kids download it again. Thanks again.:)

Hi gwilym - there are some good spyware free alternatives to KaZaA. Try and convince them to check these out WinMX (http://www.winmx.com/), eMule (http://www.emule-project.net/), Shareaza (http://www.shareaza.com/) and Blubster (http://www.blubster.com/).

Hi AnnMarie thanks for that, I have in fact had WinMX on for a long time with no problems at all. The kids go for that Kazaa because it's more glitsy and I think has more games on. I'll have a look at the others you mentioned. Bye for now.
