Dmz

I have just setup a web site using frontpage.(Hosted on my computer)

I am able to view the page on any computer on the inside of my routers network.

My router is a Netgear FVS318.

When I try and access my created web page outside of my network ,I can not connect to it.

I know there is a way to set up a DMZ,to route this site in front of my router.

I am new to all this, is there anyone who knows how to do this.

I know how to get in and make changes to my router (FVS318).

Thanks for any help.

, Michael

Your going to have to open port 80 to the ip on the system where the site is hosted.

When entering router settings, port 80 apears to be open.

Is there a test to check this a ping or something.

Thanks

No, that's your internal IP address. You need to access the site from your static IP address. The IP address that has been assigned to you from the ISP you use.

PostCode, I sent you a message with the addys you asked for.

Question how often will my IP address change?

I do not have a static address.

I am using DSL through earthlink.

Do they change hourly,daily,weekly,monthly?

Oh yeah.

I was looking at the, ummm, pictures.

It depends on the ISP. Most of them change hourly but some do change weekly. You'll just have to monitor it and see if it changes. Until you get a static IP, that's pretty much the best you can do.

Ok. Here's the deal. The first link leads to a directory. For security reasons you may want to place a file in this directory that will prohibit people from snooping. I'm not sure if the file I have will work on an IIS server though if that's what you use. Let me know though and I'll mail it to you if your using Linux.

Validation .... I CAN BE SEEN

Thanks PostCode,

If you have the file that would be great(I'm not running Linux).

The two sites were setup for a class project, they will not be long term sites.

Kind of show me you can do it type of thing.

I'll tell you I sure am jazzed to see it working.

I will be putting more work into the site to make it (a little ) more interesting
