Hi,

I would like to install Windows 2000 Professional on my computer. I am currently running Win Me. I am planning on removing this HDD w/ Win Me on it and installing Win 2000 on a brand new HDD, but to the same machine. I have never used this OS before and I was wondering if there will be any compatibility issues, such as drivers, etc. The computer itself is an older model (Pentium MMX 266 mhz with 128 MB of RAM) but, it does easily meet the minimum requirements according to the box. I have the four start-up disks already made. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

i personally would not want to put 2000 on 266 machine that is just my opinion

Agreed, I think it would most likely run like a dog too. The minimum specs are just that.. the absolute minimum thats required to start the operating system.

hi timkedz,
For your Pentium MMX to work on Win2K, you might need to flash your motherboard BIOS. For Compaq Deskpro EN model, the motherboard had to be flashed before installing.

Well, don't throw away your hard disk yet. In case anything were to happen then you still have your old hard disk to fall back on.
