Today I came to work to find that my laptop (running Win2k Pro) and one of our servers (running Win2K server) were both down and won't boot except in safe mode.

has anyone else had this happen today? It was suggested that the new W32BugBear virus might have done it but that isn't the case as the smptoms are different. The Mcafee antivirus finds nothing at all.

Oh when trying to boot the Windows Splash screen words are jumbled.

Any ideas.

What happens exactly when you try to boot the system into normal mode WIndows?

Was anything added to the system lately? In safe mode browse around device manager and check for things that could possibly be running at startup....and like post says what if anything does it exactly say/do when trying to log into normal?

It might be the system files are corrupted. Or, it may be infected with virus. Have you checked the Ntbtlog.txt log file?

Check the following to see if you find the problem.
