I have no exp with Zire or any newer Palms but my old Palm IIIxe works withouth problems on Slackware.

I have used it with gpilot, cmdline, evo and jpilot app.

Have a look around www.pilot-link.org for more info.Hope this helps.

I have a Palm Zire. Dont know anything about it yet. Was a freebe. B&W model. Wouldn't mind checking out linux on it. Will check into it later in the week.

Messed with my Zire a bit this morning and couldn't get it to Sync. Will see if I can find any docs on this and mess with it more tomorrow..

ok...back to the PALM issue for me! LOL

Thanks for the input there Dodge/Diffie, your links helped in the quest for an answer.

I am ecstatic to report that I now have my Palm Zire (m150) snyching just fine in Red Hat Linux 9 !!!!!

What a wonderful day.....I'm buying the beers now!

I'm not sure exactly what I did differently than before but here's a quick summary.

I chmoded all of the USB ports to 666 by
chmod 666 /dev/ttyUSB*

Then I deleted any links that I had before to /dev/pilot and made a new one with
ln -s /dev/ttyUSB1 /dev/pilot

I then ran an lsmod and found that the visor module was not running, so I did a ....
modprobe visor
which started it.

I then opened JPilot and snych was successful!

Not sure if I tried the lsmod/modprobe combo before or if my recent kernel upgrade from 2.4.20-18.9 to 2.4.20-19.9 was the trick.

**This is one more piece of hardware on my path to eliminate the need for dual booting into windows for hardware support** Next item: canon scanner!
