Are there ANY tweaks in the catagory Internet Speed i can use on linux? In other words, i want to tweak linux to run the internet faster.

With no tweaking to my Linux box I get almost exactly the same speeds I do with my XP box which has had several tweaks done to it. Most sites I've seen say no tweaks are necessary for Linux. But if you must......

Look here (http://www.cable-modem.net/tt/speed_others.html), scroll down near the bottom.

ceh is correct about the 'little or no need to tweak' linux for your internet connection compared to windows.

Before you read my post any further....I'd like to suggest that YOU DO TREAD VERY LIGHTLY when making tweaks such as the ones mentioned in the article ceh suggested and the one I am going to mention below. Considering that you've just started working with linux, I suggest that you wait some time before tweaking things like this....it would be a shame to hear that you need to re-install already, again. Treat these tweaks the same as editing the windows registry.

Now that I have my warning statement out of the way.....

There is an applet in Red Hat called 'redhat-config-proc'. You can either run it from the command line as root, or you can find it under the 'System Tools' entry on the Kmenu.

Thanks for the warning, I dunno if i'll go through with it though... I've already re-installed once and i'd hate to do it again... Thanks twisted.

You'll find that you might get to a comfort level with an installed OS that you say to yourself "I ain't mucking this up, its running just fine now".....but you still want to tinker. That's where I'm at now....I have 'stable and configured' windows and linux installations that I don't want to mess with them too much, that now I need another pc (or hd) to setup a linux that I can break. LOL

I suppose those are the pains we go through when tinkering with OSes.
