If so then maybe you can tell me something.
When you have the Transfer manager open. You have the Rate section. I know the numbers listed in the () is for the kbps. Such as (20) would be kbps. But what is the numbers beside it for? Mine has 744(73)....
Just curious.
Thanks

I haven't used WSFTP-Pro in a long time, but I'll take a guess for the moment, and then repost after I check it out in windows later.
I think it might be the numerical representation of the file permissions. In this case 744 for RWX R-X R-X.

Thank TC. I just thought to take a look in the Help topics and all it says is that it show the Units per second. I dont know what makes up a unit, but must be 744 units per second.

I'm really thinking that they coded the file permissions into that gui display along with the transfer rate (or units per second). Since I have a much older version than you do, would you mind trying something for me...
Dig around in the settings and see if the default transfer permissions (chmod) are set to 744, if so, change to 777 and upload a 'non-critical' file using the program....and while it is transferring, note to see if the 744 is replaced with 777.
I'm betting that this is there to remind you what permissions will be set for the currently uploading file once it is uploaded. Not sure if you have ever watched the commands scroll by as you upload or are familiar with the actual ftp commands that transpire during an ftp session....but when you do an upload, the program executes the series of commands needed to transfer the file. So you click a button, and it does the 'bin/ascii' the 'put/get', the 'chmod' and then the 'ls'

Sorry about that. I just put 744 as an example. That number changes all the time. It went up to 13000 and something a few times. But the kbps didn't change, neither did the estimated time left.
Thats what really got me to wondering what that is. I'm running 7.62 in XP. In 98 it is an older version and doesn't have those numbers.

DAMN!
Now I really feel like I was watching for patterns in the noise on a television channel with no signal!!
I saw that 744, and thought....wowsers....WSFTP put a neat little feature in to echo back the default permission mask!
LOL.....I've been had!

In WS_FTP 7.5 the transfer manager has columns for
Source | Status | Transferred | Rate (KB/S) | Size | Time Left
where Transferred is the amount of the file transferred measured in Bytes.

Thanks Degsy, but it is the Rate that I'm wondering about. If I open properties right now it is showing 134.45 kbps.... In the wizard it is showing 134(75)
So the Rate is a bit confusing to me on how they are reading it.

If the numbers in the () change, then the time left changes. But it shows the 129 right now doesn't change any....

This is very strange and has me even more stumped. I've just lost 300 and some MB's of this file. The Pic above shows it at 598,056,608....
Now it is at 319,380,176.... What happened to the rest of the file, and why does it show up on my PC as having 604mb's now.
This program is confusing the hell out of me....What is it doing. Any Ideas?
