I have an NTL cable modem that connects to my pc via USB port. The internet works fine until I plug another USB item into my PC. When I plug say my joystick in the USB my internet connection fails and when I unplug it the internet comes back online. I am running win 98. Please help I would like to use controllers on online games!

Hi Free Your Mind, welcome to CTH :)
Joysticks take their power from the USB port usually, are you plugging it into the USB port on the computer or one on a powered hub? If a hub is involved it's worth trying different combinations of where the devices are connected.
I run my NTL cable modem via the ethernet port and find it very reliable on there, if you have a network card then I'd consider connecting that way, less chance of conflicts in my experience.

I have found out that sometimes it will work if I plug it in before I turn on the PC. Thanks for your help.
