LindowsOS

Anybody know anything about a new operating system named Lindows based on Linux and looks like Windows. Supposed to also include Star Office suite and lots of other Software.
What do you think of it?

Personally, they give Debian a bad name. Once they started selling through WalMart, I pretty much forgot about them. They care more about getting a product to market then getting a product to work.

Pah! That's so sad. So i'm guessing Lindows isn't the best way to go for a linux user?

Lindows is pretty much worthless in my book. Too little power and limited in application breadth. Its an insult to Linux to call it linux.

Rather than just saying that it sucks and leaving it at that....I wanted to back up my vote of no confidence in Lindows with a point....

The Lindows OS costs just as much as Windows XP home once you toss in the yearly maintenance (subscription) cost that is required to have access to the application download service. Without the application download service, you can't add any new programs. So you're paying just as much for a limited version of linux as you are for a full version of Windows.

Watch TechTV's the ScreenSavers on June 28, 2003 for a part where they are testing and running Lindows OS Linux.

I disagree that Lindows suck. I think it's a great OS if you want to get your feet wet using Linux. I never had any problems with it. Their forums are great. I also think Xandros and SuSE are both wonderful os. If you go to http://www.choicepc.com and pay a hundred dollars to help Lindows fight MS for the copyright name, you get a lifetime of Lindows os plus a lifetime of Click-N-Run not to mention a nice tee shirt. To me you can't beat that deal.

and if lindows loses, then all you have is a tshirt Personally I do not use linux or lindows. Not that I am a ms fan but I do not have a spare computer to practice on first and do not want to take a chance with my main one.

renegade600, I believe Lindows will be here for while and if they go at least I had fun with it and met a lot of people from their forums. Why don't you just get another hard drive since their pretty cheap just for Linux and play with it and you'll find it's pretty fun to use. There's so many flavors of Linux that you'll find one that you will like.
